Protecting Your Personal Information Online

Most Americans are now comfortable buying things online. They trust merchants to send not only what they want but in a timely fashion. With the increase of trust consumers give to online companies the more they are willing to let their guard down in how the transactions actually occur. If you've ever received spam (who hasn't) then your privacy has already been breached. When you sign up for anything online your email address is stored by the site and frequently sold to an email marketing company. In exchange for your email the originating site receives a cut (generally 20-60%) of any sales made to that email address.
